Hidden Gems Tour (Southern Sub-Region)
WEEKENDS ONLYThis sub-region is known as the ‘Upper Yarra’ due to its higher altitude of 150-300metres above sea level with cooler growing conditions and deep red, rich volcanic soil.
9.30am – Personal pickup from your accommodation or home in Melbourne CBD, metro suburb; or 10.00 am if you’re staying in the Yarra Valley.
10.30 – 1st visit is to Six Acres vineyard and winery which is located on a picturesque vantage point in Silvan. The ‘Zuccaro’ family cellar door produces biologically farmed grapes to produce bright, textural and complex wines grown from rich volcanic soil on a North facing position 250
11.30 – The next visit is to Sir Paz Estate. With wines of exceptional depth and finesse, this cellar door offers an amazing experience with sweeping views of the vineyard and the valley beyond. Visitors can enjoy a Mediterranean Cheese Board as the perfect accompaniment to their wine on the open deck area. Wines on offer are Sparkling Chardonnay, Chardonnay, Sav Blanc, Shiraz, and Merlot.
12.45 – Not far along the way, we visit Elmswood Estate vineyard & winery. This cellar door is well regarded as a boutique wine producer with an exciting future and wines to match. With a welcoming, fully enclosed glass room situated on a ridge above the vineyard and boasting stunning views, it is the perfect venue for a relaxing wine tasting or function. A comprehensive range of local wine varietals is offered.
2.00 – We then visit Brumfield Winery for a comprehensive tasting experience and lunch. Here you can sample boutique handmade wines, oven-fresh sourdough bread and also small-batch craft beer. Grab a bite to eat of their ‘Garden-to-table’ dishes or cheese platters served in the light-filled indoor kitchen cafe or outside courtyard.
3.45 – Our final visit is to Morgan Vineyards. This vineyard was first established in 1971, and as such makes it one of the oldest vineyards in the Yarra Valley. Using traditional methods, Morgan’s has for many years produced limited quantities of high-quality classic Yarra Valley varietals (including a fortified) from 100% hand-picked, estate-grown fruit. Here you can also enjoy a 5 Wine 5 Cheese matched tasting platter. To finish off, try their ‘made on site’ Vermouth or classic Gin.
5.00 pm – Depart our last stop and return to your door in the Yarra Valley, Melbourne CBD or metro suburbs accommodation.
